I added push-ups to my list of “favorites” because it’s a tried-and-true exercise that works several muscle groups — my core, chest, arms, hips and legs. I did push-ups before my surgery and continue to them today.
I’ll caution you not to rush into push-ups right after your hysterectomy, however. Because you are lifting a portion of your body weight, it’s vital to wait until your doctor signs off before getting started.
When it comes to push-ups, always listen to your body. Don’t force yourself to go on if something doesn’t feel right. It’s totally okay to stop.
I like to modify my push-ups. Some days, I’ll do a few guy push-ups, then finish them up on my knees, or do all of them on my knees.
When doing push-ups, I sometimes do them against the wall, on the floor, or on my treadmill (as you’ll see in this video).
