I added squats to my list of favorite exercises because I like how they tone my lower body. My legs feel better, and I feel the burn in a good way.
Even if you did squats before your hysterectomy, it’s important to slowly work your way back up or not do them at all. This is especially true if you’ve had a pelvic prolapse, want to protect your pelvic floor, or feel any discomfort during the movement.
Try not to go down so low and keep your feet closer together if you need to protect your pelvic floor.
I sometimes squat with or without dumbbells, holding the position for about a second in between.
As with other strenuous exercises, I had to ease into squats even after my doctor gave me his blessing.
Here’s a quick video showing you a few leg exercises and modified squats that I do on my Total Gym®. I hope this inspires you to try them out as well.
