How to stay fit spiritually after your hysterectomy.
The fitness journey is one of body, mind and spirit.
Over the years, I’ve learned that the journey starts in the mind. When we take the right steps for better health mentally, our body can’t help but follow. However, it doesn’t stop there. The journey also happens in the spirit, which affects our mental fitness.
The only way to be in tune with our spiritual health is with God’s help. And that connection begins with having a relationship with His Son, Jesus Christ.
Just to clarify — having a relationship with Christ doesn’t mean all your problems will go away. It also doesn’t mean that you’ll be healed of every sickness in this life or that you’ll always be happy.
But it means that the God of the universe loves you much more than you can ever know, even when life doesn’t work exactly the way you want.
It means that you’ve been adopted into His family forever, even though He made you and me. Wow!
It also means that if you were to die today, you will live in heaven with Him for all time.
In other words, a relationship with Jesus changes you on the inside, which then changes your mind for the better, and in turn your body.
How to have a relationship with Jesus.
To be honest, I became a Christian because I was terrified of dying. My parents were Christians, but I didn’t know where I would end up after this life. I tried to justify myself by thinking that I wasn’t a terrible person.
Sure, I told a few white lies and didn’t always get along with my siblings, but all in all, I was good. At least, so I thought. Unfortunately, I was comparing myself with other people, and that was the wrong measure to use for comparison.
When it comes to comparisons, Jesus is the one and only measurement that matters.
He lived a perfect life on this earth, and although He was tempted just like us, He never sinned. Ever. I was “and still am” unworthy of being called God’s daughter — but He now sees me as worthy. The Bible says that on our best day, “Our righteousness is filthy rags” in God’s eyes.
Now, let’s talk about how much Christ loves you.
Did you know that even if you were the only person on earth, God would still send Jesus to die on the cross for you? Now, that’s deep. In other words, Christ died for you, individually. He cares that much.
Thankfully, we don’t have to do anything weird or pay tons of money to have a relationship with Christ. It’s a free gift, which — truth be told — the entire riches of this world can’t cover.
The Bible says in Romans 10:9 that “If you declare with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.”
This means, if you believe that Jesus is Lord and that He rose from the dead, and if you declare that with your mouth, God will adopt you into His family. It’s that simple!
If that’s you today, and you’d like to ask Jesus into your heart now, you can say a prayer like this:
“Lord, please forgive me for my sins. I believe that Jesus is Lord and that You sent Him to die on the cross for my sins. Please come into my heart and be my Savior and Lord. Thank you, God, for saving me.”
If you said this prayer and believe it with all your heart, you are now God’s child and have a relationship with Christ.
How to nurture your relationship and stay spiritually fit.
If you just gave your heart to Jesus, congratulations! I am super pumped for you.
Here are a few ways you can nurture your new relationship with Christ and stay spiritually fit.
- Get connected with your local church. God placed the local church around us to be an extension of His hands.
- Read the Bible. The Bible is God’s Word, which will help you grow and show you how to live. There are great Bible apps that can start you on this journey or even read to you. I like Bible.com and BibleGateway.com.
- Spend time with God by talking to Him every day. This is known as prayer, and it doesn’t have to be complicated. Just speak from your heart as you would to a dear friend. You can start by thanking God for saving you and praising Him, then praying for yourself and others around you.
- Tell others about the great things God has done for you. You can tell them how you became a Christian. I would love to hear your story!
- Don’t beat yourself up if you don’t always think, say or do the right things, now that you’re a Christian. No one is perfect, except for Jesus. You can rely on Him daily and at any time if you need a friend, when life doesn’t make sense, or just because. He truly cares about you and about every aspect of your life — big or small. He’s there with open arms, even when you and I mess up, always willing to forgive and forget when we ask for His forgiveness. How amazing is that!
