I didn’t make asparagus for years because I thought it was difficult to make. But that couldn’t be further from the truth. Asparagus spears are both fun and easy to prepare.
Plus, they’re tasty and extremely good for you.
Asparagus is great for weight loss and packed with antioxidants that boost our immune system. It also improves our mood and bone health and fights bloating.
Bloating is something that I struggled with weeks after my hysterectomy, so if you’re struggling with, asparagus may help you too.

Equipment
- frying pan with lid
- tongs
Ingredients
- 1 bunch asparagus spears
- 1 tsp kosher salt or to taste
- ½ tsp black pepper
- 1 tbsp garlic powder
- 2 tbsp grape seed oil
Instructions
- Cut or bend the thick, woody part at the bottom of the spear until it snaps off
- Rinse the asparagus spears thoroughly
- Add some grape seed oil to a frying pan and set it to medium heat, coating it evenly throughout
- Wait for the pan to heat up, then arrange the spears evenly in the pan, giving them enough room to lay in a single layer
- Lightly season with salt and pepper
- Cover the pan for about 4 minutes, checking the spears regularly to keep them from burning
- Cook the spears until they're a bright green color, then flip them over to cook on the other side
- Cook the opposite side for about 4 minutes until they're bright green and slightly wilted, but not brown
- As you remove the spears from the pan, place them onto a plate lined with a paper towel to remove any excess oil
- Add a new batch of spears to the pan, repeating steps 3-8 until all the spears are cooked
- Allow to cool to 5-10 minutes
